PhotoScape is a free image editor that is designed to be fun and easy to use. It not only resizes, edits, and tweaks your digital snapshots and other image files but also creates slideshows and animated GIFs, captures screenshots, combines and splits images, and more. PhotoScape can do lots of fun things to your pictures, and its modules, circular feature selector, and video tutorials take care of the "easy" part.

We mentioned PhotoScape's unique, circular module selector, which duplicates and adds to the features on the program's toolbar, except the first tab, PhotoScape, which is the home screen (though all the tools are available on the toolbar via the toolbar menu). Another unique and interesting feature displays a photo grabbed from Flickr. You can click to change the image or turn the feature off. The Viewer tool's tree view and thumbnails helped us make quick work of finding and loading our images; the tree view persists in the upper left corner, too, when you move on to PhotoScape's various features, starting with the Editor. The Editor collects the most frequently needed editing tools in a console, but the compact view hides a plethora of options; for instance, the Filter menu has 25 items, and nine of those items have submenus. The Editor tools can do everything from adding objects to removing moles: we had quite a laugh when the random wallpaper image we opened turned out to be screen legend Anne Francis and her famous mole! But we could also paint, draw, stamp, and make mosaics out of our images.

More fun: Animated GIFs are easy to make with PhotoScape, including resizing images, changing the timing and alignment, and automatically resizing all photos to the first image's size. The Page editor includes a huge range of templates for creating frames, borders, and collages, while the pop-up Raw Converter converts RAW images from DSLR cameras into JPEGs. A cool Paper Print tool prints letters, music sheets, calendars, planners, and more. Be sure to check out the online Face Search tool. PhotoScape promises and delivers a fun photo tool that's also easy to use.

You can save your productions in a variety of formats, share them online, or burn them to disk. Pinnacle Studio Plus 9 is free to try and costs $99.99; not cheap, certainly, but within the budget for many sophisticated amateurs. The latest release has an improved user interface, better 3D editing, and integrated cloud storage.

Pinnacle Studio's installer includes an Advanced Option that let us decide what Bonus Content to download and install. An interesting "Learn while installing" feature lets you view a Guided Tour, video tutorials, a manual, and Help flyers (the registered free trial includes technical support) during the lengthy process. The Standard Content Pack is a substantial (but recommended) optional download that needs Pando Media Booster, which required an additional installation step, as well as a current DirectX release.

Pinnacle Studio Plus 9 has an up-to-date user interface featuring a timeline with previews and drag-and-drop compatibility. Despite its many features, this program is actually easy enough for beginners. Pinnacle Studio is first and foremost a video-editing suite, but it also imported all our digital media files, including images and music, to its Library file manager. One of the first things we did in Pinnacle Studio was set up our Watchfolders for automatic updates. Pinnacle Studio's image quality is excellent, and it has too many features to summarize (more than 1,800 effects alone). Like similar tools, some processes take time, though how the program performs obviously depends on your system's capabilities. We started small but achieved better results than we expected the first time out. Though it's no lightweight, Pinnacle Studio Plus 9 registered release is well worth the time it takes to download and install.

Corel Draw 12 Registered Free Download

Corel Draw is a vector graphics editor developed and marketed by Corel Corporation of Ottawa, Canada. It is also the name of Corel's Graphics Suite. Its latest version, named X5 (actually version 15), was released in February 2010.

The CorelDRAW Graphics Suite combines three heavyweight graphics tools--CorelDRAW 11, Photo-Paint 11, and R.A.V.E. 2--which can be used individually or together. Now in version 11, the CorelDRAW Suite shows Corel still has plenty of ideas on how to improve the effectiveness and ease-of-use of these major applications.

For example, in CorelDRAW there are now new "three-point" tools for drawing rectangles, ellipses, and curves. With each, you click to fix the first point, stretch out to define an axis or baseline, and click again to complete the object. The new Polyline tool enables you to create lines and objects segment by segment, where each segment can be straight or curved. Pen tool offers a quick way to create Bezier curves.

CorelDRAW 11 introduces Symbols to its repertoire, too, so you can save and reuse drawing elements in a clip-board-style library. Using symbols saves considerable file space, which can be particularly important when drawing Web graphics.

Corel Photo-Paint 11 is to bitmap editing what CorelDRAW is to vector drawing. In many ways a competitor to Adobe Photoshop. The new version of Photo-Paint includes more improvements for Web artists. You can now slice images into a number of small parts to aid quick downloads and create rollovers for buttons and image maps, so they appear differently when pointed to or clicked. The program also supports JPEG 2000 files, so you can save your images in this new high-compression format.

The Cut-out masking tool helps extract foreground images from picture files and create objects from them that you can incorporate into other pictures. While not as comprehensive as Corel's own stand-alone KnockOut product, it's a useful tool in its own right. Red-eye removal from portrait photos can be a nuisance, but the new red-eye removal tool replaces red pixels with their greyscale equivalents. Various other effects within Photo-Paint add to its usefulness--things like enhanced lens flare, improved bevels, and reworked image stitching for panoramic photos.

The third part of the suite is Corel R.A.V.E., a Macromedia Flash Animation creator. This module now uses a very similar interface to CorelDRAW and incorporates most of the same tools. It also offers tools and effects specific to its animation role, such as tweening of text on a path and of the program's predefined library objects, Perfect Shapes. Export of graphics to Macromedia Flash has been improved and includes the ability to export text as text rather than curves, which saves considerable file space.

AutoCAD 2002 is the industry software that sets the standard in CAD design.

AutoCAD is a complete program for designing buildings, objects and just about anything else that requires precision in 2D or 3D. This makes it very complex for beginners although there is extensive documentation and a series of tutorials to get you started. Also bear in mind that AutoCAD system requirements charge a high cost on your computer.

AutoCAD is suitable for both 2D and 3D drawing and is incredibly versatile, allowing you to customize almost every aspect of the design process. The intuitive interface has been much improved in recent years and now makes it much easier to identify the different functions available. You can create and edit DWG files quickly and, now that AutoCAD is available on Mac, work across platforms too.

One thing that catches some users out is that you have to be careful when updating designs and plans because if you make a change in a design, AutoCAD does not automatically update related files. So, if you change a detail in the section of a building, you must also remember to manually change the plan.

The biggest barrier for many people however will be the cost. AutoCAD is one of the most expensive pieces of software you will ever purchase, but the complexity and power of it will more than justify the cost for most professionals.
